Answering the call to heaven.
Though I try to hide it,
My heart weeps with crimson tears,
Reverberating with piercing pain.
I’ve been avoiding reality,
But I cannot escape,
The reality of the situation.

Novacaine
Damian Semwayo
I strive for unconditional love to unfold,
Yet, it feels suffocating, difficult to hold.
The intense highs, devoid of solace and rest,
A never-ending precipice, skyward I’m pressed.
I gasp, feeling choked by my own despair,
As it taints the love we’re meant to share.
Together we ought to be, bound and free,
In harmony, as you reside deep within me.

Stand Firm
Damian Semwayo
Stand firm, my friend.
As the wind passes through you.
Stand firm, my friend.
As the wind passes by,
Don’t hold it in.
The whirl will do injustice to your settled peace,
Uproot your freedom and stain dust to your Self, your identity.
Open all the channels.
Feel the energy and let it flow through.
Stand firm my dear friend.
Rooted like the baobab tree.

Cocaine and Champagne
Damian Semwayo
I seek a safe refuge within my mental.
Free of rental, a haven, nonjudgmental.
Blue and red lights illuminate,
In the club’s nighttime.
A glass of champagne and a snotty nose.
Perhaps that will do.
Comforting the best and soul to ease.
To feel liberated in my being and roam as I please.
Condemn me. I am not ashamed.
On occasion, I think to myself,
“Where do I want to be?”
Who I generally believe myself to be.
And for my life to be peaceful,
It is all I need.
Travel wherever I please, adventure.
From all the trees, flora, and creatures,
Take in pure Amazonian air.
And for my life to be peaceful,
It is all I need.
When the day dimes and it’s jerky,
I reside within my visualization.
Cocaine and Champagne.

Why do you display such a fierce demeanor?
Attempting to be something you’re not.
I’m not claiming to be what I’m not.
Perhaps I am authentic, sincere.
But are you? Can you prove your credibility?
Have we met before, in time long gone?
Now, after two months, I am perplexed,
Uncertain of the path on which you tread.
Please enlighten me,
Why do you portray such a savage facade ?

I Chose You After Me
Damian Semwayo
I have chosen myself,
Embracing solitude within.
A haven of peace, without any pleas,
A sanctuary where I’m truly free.
I choose to retreat within myself for a while,
To find solitude and freedom with a smile.
A place to reside and be at peace,
And to grow stronger without any lease.
I retreat to my inner abode,
Where solace and stillness meet.
A dwelling for my soul to reside,
A sacred space where I find complete peace.

Growth Through Pain
Damian Semwayo
I veil pain, not for personal gain.
It’s the emotional strain that helps me sustain.
A stronger self, connected to my inner core.
A clearer path, discovering what I’m living for.
I veil pain, not for personal gain.
Validation

Damian Semwayo
I sought validation in your eyes, until I realized,
I lost sight of my own worth, my own prize.
Considerate of your feelings, while mine remain ignored,
I’ve poured my energy into feeding your ego, restored.
Now you treat me as just another fool,
Your thoughts prevail, while mine stay cool.
I see through your being, but you won’t reciprocate,
I see through your actions, while mine I isolate.
My heart once felt deeply, until you misled,
Causing pain and leaving it stained red and bled.
Technically, it’s your fault, for painting it red.
My love is null and void, disheartened and dead.

Oh Lord
Damian Semwayo
I envision my success,
The product of my hard work and progress.
My destiny within reach,
Thanks to the wisdom I did seek.
Oh Lord, grant me the courage to face my fears,
And leave behind all my past tears.
For I will shine as bright as the sun,
And my accomplishments will not be undone.
With every step, I am closer to my goal,
And my spirit is uplifted and whole.
I am ready to embrace what’s in store,
And soar higher than ever before.
Furnace of belief
Damian Semwayo
Today I remember the days,
When doubts and fears clouded my ways.
But now I see my dreams high up in the sky,
Skyrocketing with no fear of dying.
I feel the furnace of belief and vibrant energy,
Pushing me towards my destiny.
I am my own person, free to choose my fate,
And enter any gate that I create.
They say, take heed of what you say.
For in the heart of the receiver,
Every comma and context shall stay.
So I choose to speak positively and light,
To guide me towards success and fight any plight.
And I wonder
Damian Semwayo
When I look into your eyes, what do I see?
A reflection of your soul, a truth set free.
Beyond handsome features that catch my gaze,
A depth of emotions, a captivating maze.
When I peer into your soul, what lies within?
Is it a radiant light, a soul untamed, no sin?
Or do I find a facade, a deceptive art?
A devil in disguise, playing a false part?
In the corridors of your mind, what thoughts take flight?
Are they hopeful and bright, chasing away the night?
Or do pessimism and nihilism play their game,
Coloring each utterance of your name?
When our hands touch, what stirs in the air?
Is it compassion, a connection we both share?
Or is it just a fleeting sensation that fades,
Leaving no trace, like whispers in cascades?
To be honest, my love, I often wonder too,
What lies beneath the surface, what’s really true.
But amidst all the questions, one thing remains,
I love you deeply, regardless of what my mind contains.
By the river’s edge
Damian Semwayo
You led me to the ocean’s shore,
Guided me through the golden sand.
Cleansed my soul with the saltwater,
And helped me find my inner stand.
You led me to the ocean’s shore,
Promised a peaceful calm,
A place where I could find my core,
And let go of all the qualms.
You led me to the ocean’s shore,
Where I saw my true reflection.
Encouraged me to love myself more,
And embrace my imperfection.
You led me to the ocean’s shore,
And I will forever be in debt.
For showing me what I was searching for,
And helping me find my inner reset.
seeking after seeking
Damian Semwayo
I seek a haven,
Where I can be vulnerable and true.
A place where I can let go of the burden,
And find solace in someone like you.
I seek a haven,
Where I can find peace and rest.
A place where I can lay my head,
And know that I am truly blessed.
I seek a haven,
Where I can be myself without fear.
A place where I can shed my tears,
And know that you will always be near.
I seek a haven,
And I believe that I have found it in you.
For you are the one who understands,
And helps me see my way through.
Days as reminders
Damian Semwayo
The sound of the ocean waves,
Reminds me of my unsteady mind,
In my younger years.
Drifting through life,
With uncertainty and fear.
Craving guidance and love,
To ease the pain I held so dear.
Dying inside slowly seeking,
A way to heal and grow.
To shed the weight of my past,
And let my true self glow.
Learning to value my worth,
And embrace my inner strength.
Breaking through the mental barriers,
And finding peace at length.
The sound of the birds singing,
Reminds me of the days,
I found joy in the simple things,
And lived life in a daze.
But now I see with clarity,
And cherish every moment.
Grateful for the journey,
And all the lessons I’ve been sent.
I quite remember it all,
The ups and downs, the highs and lows.
But now I stand tall,
And let my true self show.

… I pray my soul to take
DAMIAN SEMWAYO
I’ll set aside my pride, lay it low.
To steady my soul, let it freely flow.
If life’s curtain falls, my slumber commences,
I beseech the Lord, may my soul find peace.

Self-determination’s Fruits
Damian Semwayo
Grew up contemplative.
Finding solace in silence, a path to explore,
The depths of my being, seeking love’s embrace,
That was elusive, but yearned for more.
Grew up guarded.
For no one seemed to care, to truly see,
The love within, waiting to be shared.
Now, I teach love, fostering unity,
Embracing the night, for tomorrow’s not declared.
Grew up aware.
Each moment present, no time to spare,
In being kind, humanity to strive.
Against the snares of the world, I dare,
To be a beacon, standing strong and alive.
Grew up introspective.
A solitary child, misunderstood and alone.
Storms whispered, every grain felt like stone.
In silence, my voice was sewn,
No one to listen, my thoughts unknown.
Grew up learning to love.
Disliking my reflection, inner turmoil, strife.
Yet, seeking progress, a trace to find.
Life, at times, a chaotic mess rife,
But look beyond, hope’s chains unbind.
Entice and demise intertwine.
Accepting oneself, a potent key,
To pursue dreams, unyielding, hearts uncaged.

Destined for greatness!
Damian Semwayo
Chest aches from relentless coughing bouts,
Weighing heavy, like no other cough,
Nose, congested, with a winter’s scoff,
Yet the heart keeps pumping, without doubts.
Amidst the snow, we’ll trudge along, it’s true,
Hope propels us, reaching for much more,
With fervor, facing trials that lie in store,
Energy wanes, but wrath seeks to imbue.
But let us modify this weary verse,
Retain the context, with a heartfelt plea,
To find a balance, let energy flow free.
For coughs may cease, and colds may disperse,
Resilient hearts, renewed by hope’s bright fire,
Navigate the snowstorm, fortitude won’t tire.

Dear Aunt, one day you shall hear,
When I rise and conquer, my voice sincere,
So listen closely to my words today,
For there are things I need to convey.
I yearn to transcend our cultural chains,
To settle down and share knowledge’s gains,
Yet the torment you inflict weighs heavy,
Upon those deemed lesser, unworthy.
In a world where more is often less,
The truth obscured, hidden beneath distress,
Negative narrations cloud our sight,
Unbelievable stories, shadows of blight.
Can a mind stay clear, submerged under water?
Or is the mind itself a mere flowing river?
Please forgive me, but I’m grateful still,
To the Almighty, who knows my heart’s will.
From where does this hatred for kin derive?
Hate and enslavement, born to survive?
We face storms, you and I, hand in hand,
Extending aid, united we shall withstand.
That is the energy, the norm we believe,
But for you, Aunt, karma shall never deceive.
Never become a soldier in a peaceful garden,
Never be a gardener amidst a war’s burden.

Humane: Hardknock
Damian Semwayo
If the sun’s scorching blaze,
Reduces my flesh to dust’s embrace.
If raindrops fall,
And cleanse my soul in river’s haul.
If the world’s harsh bite,
Devours my soul with relentless might.
Who will lend a caring ear,
To the depths of my despair?

Brown Sugar Melodies
Damian Semwayo
Melodies of brown sugar,
Echoing Rihanna’s Fenty Brown hues.
We honor our queens.
They embody black heritage with pride.
They symbolize our unyielding race.
Graceful faces, curves that command attention.
A form flawlessly harmonious.
A physique crafted to captivate,
Satisfying all discerning eyes.
What obstacles can hinder a soul so pure,
So breathtaking?
What boundaries can constrain a mind that’s,
Driven and destined?
Behold our divine creation,
A reflection of God’s own likeness.

Damian Semwayo
She cleared my doubts,
From all my routes,
Of choice.
Clarified the detailed amidst my,
Fog of misunderstanding and poise.
A clarification on the identification crisis.
My identity doubts.
Her presence profound,
A celestial force unbound.
Not through lust nor desires,
But with wisdom that inspires.
A guardian angel, per se,
Guiding me on the righteous way.
She offered assurance without disguise,
Helping me see through the world’s lies.
Her touch upon my soul,
Not for pleasure’s toll.
Just a reminder to stay grounded,
In the purpose that I’ve founded.
With her guidance, I have come to see,
A path to faith and clarity.
Grateful I am, forevermore,
For the angel who unlocked my inner core.

Does our nation embody
Freedom’s light?
Working till our eyes,
Can’t resist the call to dream.
Taxed to build a better,
Future for all to share.
I ponder if they hear our voice,
Not just a whisper but a,
Cry for change.
Love regained.
Chains of oppression breaking,
Liberating every hand.
Democracy’s embrace.
No wonder why our brethren,
Rise.
Empowered and determined,
Justice seekers unite.
The scars of violence,
A product of corrupt power.
But transformation begins from within,
Our political halls.
Guide us forward.
Oh, yes.
Lead us towards liberty.

Damian Semwayo
I find myself in wonder,
Why I feel both highs and lows,
Like the sun’s rays upon my face,
Can bring both joy and woes.
Some days I rise with vigor,
Making my bed, tasks in hand,
Completing them with purpose,
Making strides, taking a stand.
Yet other days I’m weary,
Compelled to stay confined,
A feeling of being drained,
Without remorse, left behind.
It’s on those days I falter,
Losing motivation’s thread,
Preferring to stay in slumber,
From dusk till dawn, in bed.
I seek the understanding,
Of what makes my spirit yearn,
I hold within me strength and worth,
For that, I am determined to discern.
The answers lie within,
They’re not for you, my friend,
For I know what I possess,
I know my potential, where I transcend.
A search awaits, to fill the gap,
To find what’s missing, what’s amiss,
In this journey of self-discovery,
I’ll find completeness, eternal bliss.

Live wisely, not blindly,
Take life’s challenges in stride.
Slow down the pace, embrace,
Never allowing fear to reside.
If I choose to escape,
Let a situation fade away,
Does it make me a forever coward?
Or perhaps, a repentant soul,
One who struggles to self-forgive,
If the same mistake is replayed.
There are moments of relief,
Yet, at times, I feel defeated.
Appreciating nature’s energy,
My feet grounded upon the earth.
Finding peace along the way,
Experiencing freedom, a sense of rebirth.
All that I possess,
Reflects my desires and dreams.
Who am I, you ask?
I am both who I am and am not, it seems.

Embrace change’s subtle call,
Resistance breeds consequences, befall.
Chart your journey, track your growth,
From who you were, to who you are, both.
And in contemplation, envision who you strive to be,
A blend of past, present, and future, free.
Live slowly, a pace of mindful grace,
Yet let your choices be swift, a determined chase.
Live slowly, but let your thoughts fly fast,
To ponder, to question, to broaden and surpass.

“He left us, how could he depart?
Why make such a scene, tearing us apart?
He brought shame and disgrace, I confess.
His life’s a mess, leaving us distressed.”
“But I loved him, with all my heart!
And still, I love him, though we’re apart!”
Whimpering softly, like a wounded hound,
Emotion pouring out, in tears it’s found.
“He made me feel safe, amidst the storm.
Protected my spirit, so tender and warm.
We had something pure, where did it derail?
When did our love begin to fail?
Our hearts once entwined, beating so strong,
Where did it all go wrong?”
“Love has two sides, my dear, you see.
The dazzling lights, the colors so free,
But beneath the surface, hidden from view,
Lies a depth of darkness, where hearts turn blue.
Love exacts a toll, a price you must pay,
Hearts once warm can turn icy, they say.
Pockets run dry, love’s currency dear,
A toll on the soul, crystal clear.”
“I’m unable to mend, I’m shattered inside,
He holds me down, on my knees I reside.
Begging for a drop of compassion to show,
But love’s too costly, I cannot afford the woe.
What did I do to deserve this fate?
I’ve sought forgiveness, at heaven’s gate.
Hasn’t the Lord cleansed my sins of the past?
Destiny intervened, our love couldn’t last.”
“Relax, my friend, though burdened with guilt,
Remember, the weight of blame must be split.”

In the art of poetry, my heart sings,
Revealing truths of the pain it brings.
I reluctantly admit, it did hurt so,
When he departed, a part of me did go.
A tender lesion, filled with compassion’s grace,
Departed with him, leaving an empty space.
An itch demanding more, a longing to fulfill,
Scratching into memories, against my will.
Now healed from the soreness, I lay here still,
Reflecting upon a life, both good and ill.
But is it enough, worth holding on tight?
Does it fulfill me, bringing peaceful respite?
Is it worth the trade, surrendering flesh to dust,
In the grand tapestry of nature’s eternal trust?
Sixteen years have passed since that fateful news,
A sudden rupture, a reality I couldn’t refuse.
A pause in breath, a halt to beats so dear,
Cowardice emanates from you, crystal clear.
A man should own up to his mistakes, it’s true,
Acceptance is a virtue of integrity, through and through.
But alas, vain and fearful, you chose another path,
Overpowered by fear, avoiding aftermath.
I’ve come to accept you as flawed, human in kind,
Yet deep within, the truth you cannot hide or bind.
A true man’s essence eludes you, lost in your fears,
For a man without integrity, its virtue disappears.

The pain cuts deeper, more than it should,
Her love, sincere and open, misunderstood.
What was she to sacrifice, to let go,
Only to find heartbreak, a tragic blow?
Sometimes, hope lingers far too long,
Leaving us shattered, clinging on,
Dying for a cause, lost deep within,
A sacrifice made, an emotional anthem.
In love’s name, she gave her all,
Only to receive disrespect, to fall.
Psychotic trauma, a mental death’s embrace,
Regret weighing heavy, leaving no trace.
Will she ever love again, I wonder,
Can trust and hope be forever rediscovered?
The scars may fade, but hidden deep,
The wounds remain, where pain does seep.
She called him her everything, her soul’s mate,
But he labeled her insane, a stressful weight.

Damian Semwayo
The faith of man, unyielding and strong,
From my origins, where history’s wrong.
Enslaved people of my color, bound by chains,
In God’s name, a paradox that remains.
Blinded by beliefs, confinements of the mind,
With shattered morals, they were designed.
But even now, I glimpse into their hearts,
Still blinded and stuck, unable to restart.
Rehabilitation, a challenging endeavor,
Who among us will rise and endeavor?
To take up the task, to lend a guiding hand,
And help them break free from their self-made strand.

Amidst the chaos, troops are deployed,
Disrupting peace, a world to be destroyed.
No longer fighting for unity’s embrace,
It seems currency and clips have taken their place.
In this modernized perception, legalized veneer,
A subtle form of slavery, cloaked so clear.
With pockets of protection, they hold tight,
Believing immortality blesses their every fight.
Yet, unbeknownst to them, a blade does hide,
Silently poised, ready to strike their pride.
Land of the free, enslaved by their own,
A tragic irony, within their ethnic zone.
Greed and power, unchecked and untamed,
Corroding the soul, leaving it forever maimed.
Let not the heart be spoken of, for behold,
To conscience and compassion, they’ve been sold.

Journey to self-discovery and renewal
Damian Semwayo
As the years pass, I gain more knowledge and insight,
Reflecting on the journey of my life’s endless flight.
May my heart not be tainted by sorrowful gain,
Though I’ve have had my share of tears and pain.
The Lord above knows my worth; it’s my crown I portray,
May my spirit guide me on a righteous pathway.
My soul doesn’t falter, nor let me stumbling down.
May my faith rise above to lift me off the ground.
Amidst the questions and doubts of who I am and will become,
A clearer purpose has arisen; my destiny waits to be won.
My strength and dignity never to hit the ground,
For now, the light within me has illuminated a clear sound.
So as I stand today with renewed hope and newfound clarity,
May my soul and pride guide me on a path of prosperity.
And as I continue to grow into the person I desire to be,
I cherish the journey of discovery, filled with purity and beauty.

But, sorry no emotions today
Damian Semwayo
“I never said you can’t,” the words echo like a call,
A permission to enter, to lure me into your space and enthrall.
“I never said you can’t,” the invitation so clear,
To seduce me into your duce, to make me feel and to steer.
But amidst my priorities, my heart sits inert,
A philosophical question, what is it all worth?
Can love and desire, coexist in harmony,
Or are they but distractions, to life’s true destiny?
Yet, my flesh cannot resist, the effect so profound,
A desire so strong, it shakes me to the ground.
“I never said I can’t,” the words echo like a vow,
A promise of love, that we must all allow.
But, sorry no emotions today, the disclaimer so stark.
Is love a mere feeling, an emotion so fleeting,
Or a choice that we make, even amidst heart’s beating ?
What is love, but a reflection of our souls,
A testament to the human spirit that endlessly rolls.
A choice that we make each day, to love and to give,
To create a world full of hope, where all beings live.

Love in you never ends, the words echo like a sweet melody,
A promise of eternity, a bond of passion and intensity.
Yet, there are ties with loose ends, stories of love and memories,
Of bittersweet moments, of joy and pain, of highs and casualties.
The internal burning fireplace of love, with flames that never die,
A warmth so exquisite, a feeling that makes us sigh.
And yet, there are felonies, mistakes that we must amend,
A journey of forgiveness, of second chances that we must extend.
Even if it’s me, and not you, I’ve been perfect for you,
Words that echo like a vow, a promise that forever rings true.
For in the end, it’s not perfection, that defines our love,
But the imperfections, the flaws, the hurdles we rise above.
So let us cherish this love, like a treasure from above,
A gift that we must nurture, with devotion, care, and love.
For in love, there’s magic, there’s depth, and mystery,
A world waiting to be explored, a journey of discovery.

What’s true, I’ve to ask,
Is it but a fleeting concept, that we barely know it ?
Is it the light that shines so bright,
Or the shadows that conceal, and dim the sight?
The mountain hues, that paint the sky,
Or the devil’s armpits, that emit a putrid smell and make us sigh.
What’s true, my friend, is a question so stark,
It makes us wonder, it makes us hark.
Are our kinds there, out in the vast universe,
Or are we the only ones, left to discover and traverse ?
Is life but a rarity, an exception to the rule,
Or is it thriving in every corner, a cosmic fuel ?
What’s true, I ask again, craving an answer,
Is it a journey, a path we must traverse, like a dancer ?
Or is it a destination, a static point in space and time,
A culmination of all that is, a reflection so divine ?
And yet, my dear, in all your thirst for truth,
Amidst the questions, the doubts, the struggle, and the proof,
There’s one thing that shines so bright, so pure,
And that’s the beauty of life, that we must cherish and ensure.
For in the end, it’s not what’s true that counts,
But how we live, how we love, and how we amount.
To something greater, something beyond ourselves,
A legacy of hope, of courage, and of tales.
So let us embrace the journey, the process, the unknown,
And trust that in the end, the truth will be shown.
Perhaps not in the way, we expected or planned,
But in the beauty of life, that we forever stand.

With imageries of beauty and a cry from the heart.
Let’s dive deeper into the pool of emotions,
And enrich the verses with expressive notions.
As the sun dips below the horizon,
It paints a stunning canvas with shades a dozen.
The sky turns purple and blue like a masterpiece,
A moment to cherish, a memory that will never cease.
But what of happiness and fate as light as a feather?
Does it truly end in a way darker than ever?
Are smiles only an illusion of a weightless life,
A fleeting sensation, a temporary respite?
The tears of a child, oh! How they tug at our heartstrings,
Amidst the frowns and the pain, a smile often springs.
Are we to celebrate when destiny comes in sight,
Even from a distance, even if it’s not quite right?
The road of life can be a lonely one,
Deserted and long, to the River Nile we run.
Along this journey, what awaits our fate?
Is it a life of entitlement, an inevitable date?
Questions linger, emotions galore,
Like books lined up on a shelf, waiting to be explored.
When will the hand of fate set us free,
And lead us to where we are meant to be?
As we search for answers, we wait for a sign,
For a mention, for a referrer, someone to help us align.
For life can seem unfair, an endless fight,
But we must keep going, for a better life in sight.
So let’s conclude with a smile, a gesture of hope,
A sign of our strength, our ability to cope.
For in darkness, there is light, in pain, there is joy,
In poetry, in life, there is beauty to enjoy.

Metanoia
Damian Semwayo
A story of loss and pain, emotions so consequential.
Paint a picture so vivid,
In words that flow like magic, with depth so explicit.
He lost his soul too soon, on that fateful day,
When the doves flew away with the twigs in dismay.
Leaving behind a brother, who needed him the most,
And with him, a grip on life, that slowly faded like a ghost.
His heart felt frosty, his mind turned dark and toast,
As he struggled through his teenage hood, plagued by hormones that boast.
Of love and passion, of desire that burns and yearns,
A longing for something that he couldn’t quite discern.
Money, they say, is the root of all evil,
But does the problem lie in the materialistic veil?
Or is it deeper, darker, much harder to unveil?
The demons within, that make us impulsive and selfish, we fail.
And yet, in the midst of despair and pessimistic nightmares,
We keep going, fighting, never giving up on life’s affairs.
Dear friend, I hear your cries and understand your sighs,
Let the materialistic soothe the pain, but don’t fall too deep in the drain of their lies.
Regret creeps in, with a varying impression,
It’s hard to interpret, this internal confession.
“I should have been there,” just to hold you, my friend,
The road ahead may be unclear, but I promise, it’s not the end.
In my heart you will forever live, my love I send,
For even in the darkest moments, we must find a way to mend.
So let us lift our spirits, and spark a flame of hope,
For in life, there’s always a way to cope.

Mystery Unveiled: The Intricacies of Love and the Psyche Within
Damian Semwayo
Inside me lies a mystery vast,
Layers hidden, so difficult to cast.
You must make an incision deep and true,
To reveal my world, my precision to you.
Love is my game, but I don’t take it lightly,
It’s a dance of emotions, like a ballad lively.
My thoughts are psychic, bordering on the brink,
A little more, and they could tip psychotic, you’d think.
But don’t let that scare you, for deep inside,
Lies a heart that yearns to love, open wide.
So take the scalpel, make the incision deep,
And discover all the secrets, and promises to keep.
With every cut, a story unfolds,
And every revelation, new to be told.
Unraveling me brings a thrill,
So hold fast, let’s discover, and break free from the still.

Damian Semwayo
We once needed each other, it was clear,
Together in the same creed we held dear.
But then, my needer’s need became unneeded by me,
And now we stand apart, not as it used to be.

Stories I Tell
Damian Semwayo
Let me tell you a tale of love and strife,
Of a relationship that seemed to teeter on knife.
For though love was there, it was often tested,
And tempers flared, buttons pressed and guests bested.
I know you poured love into every inch of your heart,
But sometimes, I must have been too much for your cool to start.
Those moments when I could see the fire in your eyes,
And your actions made it clear, casting no disguise.
You’d smear your face, a sign of distress,
And I felt the heat of hell, and its serpents rise, excess.
But then a soft touch from your hand,
Would be the cue to stay, and work together, as planned.
Our lives were intertwined like ties,
And the norm became a little more fights than otherwise.
But still, I cherish every memory and moment with you,
And that’s why I wrote this, to make it plain and true.

Story to Tell.
Damian Semwayo
Once upon a time, I had a story to tell,
Of the challenges I faced, and the struggle of my life.
But fear and doubt had taken hold,
And my words stayed hidden, kept out of sight.
Then you came along, my dear friend,
With your big heart and love to lend.
I hesitated, for I was tough to save,
But your support never wavered, your kindness ever brave.
Still, I feared the judgment I’d receive,
And doubted if anyone would believe,
The ups and downs, the rags to riches tale,
Or would they see just rags, without a trail.
The toughest of times came in old age,
When my rage was hard to assuage.
My folks saw me as rebellious and rude,
But maybe their perception was all skewed.
So I went on a journey of self-discovery,
To find the truth within me and recover.
I laid bare my essence, my struggles and fears,
No longer afraid of judgment or tears.
My story, at last, can be told,
With your love, dear friend, I broke the mold.
From fear and doubt, I finally broke free,
And embraced myself, flaws and all, finally me.

No Strings
By Damian Semwayo
Oh, how I am perplexed,
By the world’s strange effects.
Our perceptions doth vary,
Of this planet we do carry.
Each detail doth make me ponder,
Thoughts stacked high, a mental wonder.
Is it I or the world that’s mad,
Or is it all but a perception fad?
The world doth hang by a thread,
Yearning for drops of hope to be shed.
What percentage of my thoughts,
Match those of others in their lots?
What is atop of what is below,
Oftentimes I despise this status quo.
As I examine my inner monologue,
Questions unanswered, like a dense fog.
I cannot fathom this world’s ways,
Perhaps it’s strange or I’m just too unique in my days.

Art of Not Forcing
Damian Semwayo
Times have changed,
And tired I am, of playing the intuition game.
No longer will I say, “I just had a feeling..”
For I am the master of my fate,
The captain to steer my ship on a gale.
No longer a slave to premonitions,
A new dawn breaks on my horizon.
For I am the intuitive, the decider of my own path,
The ultimate authority of my aspiration’s bath.
My situations shall not control me,
For I am the one who crafts my destiny.
With each passing day, I’ll gain control,
And pave the way to the future, strong and whole.

The Clashing Voices Within
Today I woke up to a voice that wasn’t out,
Wrapped up in feelings, with clarity in doubt.
Debates rage on, with regrets unrefereed,
Echoes loud enough to make hearts bleed.
What the heart desires, the mind wants to please,
Guilt towering over, a burden hard to ease.
Lost in a land of confusion, like Normandy’s strife,
Sweating with within, struggling for life.
The air moves round like a marching band,
Yet, it feels thin, with battles close at hand.
The mind armed with programming, ready to attack,
A reality set in motion, a sobering fact.
Voices clash within, the heart and mind in strife,
An endless battle, a war fought for life.
Damian Semwayo
Hiding behind our fears, yet shedding tears,
Struggling for years, chasing elusive dreams with gears.
Amid the chaos, struggles and strife,
We shan’t forget, hope still guides our life.
We dare not say “If”, for possibilities are beyond measure,
The world is our canvas, dreams waiting for us to treasure.
Why then continue this never-ending fight?
Why not rise above our fears, and let our spirits take flight?
Ears open and hearts cry out,
To hear a neighbor’s call, amidst the doubt.
But all that is heard is silence,
A deafening void, with no pretense.
Life’s grip is tight, twisting and turning,
The cure became disease, leaving us burning.
The vaccine turned blood masking,
All for profit-making, a cruel tasking.
Who will stop the churning wheels of greed?
Who will end this madness, and stop profiteering’s creed?
The answer is obvious if we all see,
It’s for humanity, we must rise up with glee.
Coming out Soon !

We’re Both at Fault (Redemption)
Damian Semwayo
Damaged ties with loose ends,
Easy to find and hard to mend,
We both played a part,
In breaking each other’s heart.
I misspoke with “I miss you’s”,
And I regret the damage I caused,
But every reaction I gave,
Was purely justified in the moment.
Your light may have blackened,
But we both know the truth,
We were both at fault,
And we both need redemption.
Love shouldn’t come with a price,
And I’ll love you for free,
But I need to know if,
The feeling is mutual and true.
Baby, in my mind,
You still live rent-free,
But we need to work together,
To rebuild what we used to be.
Let’s take responsibility,
For the mistakes we made,
And work towards healing,
So our love can be remade.
We may have stumbled before,
But with honesty and grace,
We can rise above it all,
And find a better place.
So let’s start anew,
And leave the past behind,
For our love deserves a chance,
To shine and truly thrive.

Dear Future Lover
Damian Semwayo
Please be patient with me.
I’m not skilled with love.
I know it exists,
But I wonder if it’s worth chasing.
Do you think it’s worth it?
Or will it steal my peace,
My sanity, my mental health, my inner ease?
If I decide to love,
I want it to be a choice,
Not the pressure that people put on you to find a mate.
When the time comes,
I want whoever I choose to be deserving of my love.
I imagine you to be ladylike,
Intelligent, mature, with a good aura,
Maybe even with a sweet and pure mind.
I want to heal with you,
And for you to heal with me.
I want us to be each other’s cure,
Antidotes against all poison we might find.
Future lover, wherever you are,
Be you’re healing heart,
The one that will make me whole,
And complete my missing part.
I don’t have your phone number or blog URL,
I don’t even know your Twitter handle.
But I’m waiting for you,
Patiently hoping that we’ll meet in the future, with our souls tangled.

Attraction’s Rhythm
Damian Semwayo
Her message comes, just as I heal,
Longing for my touch, she can’t conceal.
Her face aglow, her thigh in sight,
I’m allowed into her forever night.
But wait, my love, let’s clear the fog,
Why do you like to see my heart stained red?
Countless scars you’ve implemented,
Like numbers learned when we were kids.
Yet still, the pain is bearable,
When I gaze into your eyes so desirable.
You melt my soul like ice,
And make me feel like you’ve missed me twice.
I know you misuse the “I miss yous”,
But with pure thoughts, I perceive the truth.
Our love is true and on point,
It only takes one heart to miss and join.
So call it whatever, love or attraction’s rhythm,
Our souls entwined, we’ll never be a victim.
Let’s hold on tight and never let go,
For in each other’s arms, we’ll forever glow.

Talk Up
Damian Semwayo
Today may have started anew,
But yesterday still lingers like a dew
Do I pay homage to the past I’ve had,
Or do I move forward without turning back?
Misfortunes of the yesteryear,
Taunt me with their familiarity near
I wish I could forget the pain,
And focus on the good before it wanes
But memories, both good and bad,
Are what make us the person we’ve become, I add
So instead of trying to shade my cries,
I embrace the fact that life comes with bittersweet ties
Loose ends may be aplenty,
But I face and fight them with a heart steady
For with each regret comes an opportunity,
To grow and learn with vigor and curiosity
So let today be my bridge and tomorrow my hope,
Forging ahead with wisdom and newfound scope
Reminiscing without getting lost in its shadow,
Regretting without erasing the person I’ve become, fellow.
@simply_Damian
In life, we’re faced with choices more than a few,
Choosing wisely is what will see us through.
Will we go to school and chase our dreams,
Or will we surrender, losing our purpose it seems?
Will we choose poetry and let our emotions flow,
Crying and living, basking in its ebb and flow?
Or will we choose to simply live life, with no one by our side,
No wife to share our joy or pain with, no one to confide?
It seems we don’t have much of a choice,
But that’s just the illusion of the noise.
For every road we take is a choice in itself,
Leading us to a journey unique to oneself.
We can choose to go to school and chase our dreams,
With purpose and passion, our journey is more than it seems.
We can choose poetry, expressing emotions that don’t shy,
Finding the beauty in living, as we face the lows and the high.
Or we can choose to live life, with no one by our side,
Finding strength in ourselves, as our inner demons we try to hide.
Each path has its ups and downs, its twists and its turns,
But it’s how we react that brings us the lessons that we yearn.
So let’s choose boldly, and live through the consequence,
For it’s in making choices that we find our true essence.
@simply_Damian
The pain that we feel deep inside
Is what keeps us unified
It brings us both joy and sorrow
And leads us to thoughts of tomorrow
Should we choose to depart
We’ll lose the joy along with the hurt
But if we stay and weather the pain
Perhaps we’ll find sunshine after the rain
Our path can lead us to freedom
Yet, it’s a choice we must make with wisdom
Choosing wrongly can lead to fights
And dark, sleepless nights
True love, they say, can lift us up
Bearing us to heights unknown
But in that journey we might find
Painful truths that leave us prone
So choose wisely, my love, and know
That pain and love are two sides of one flow
Together we must travel, hand in hand
And find in each other’s hearts a place to stand.
@simply_Damian
But alas, it seems we’re not meant to be,
no matter how much we want to see.
Our love is like a rose,
beautiful but with thorns that impose.
We can’t ignore the reality,
that we’re not each other’s destiny.
It hurts to let go,
but it’s better than holding onto something that won’t grow.
So let’s cherish the memories we’ve made,
and the love we’ve shared in our own shade.
For even though our love may have died,
it will forever be a part of us inside.

We once grasped love,
Watched it bloom and inflate,
Inside the vocals of an angel,
Inspiring and rejuvenating.
But now the shackles weigh heavy,
Keeping my mind unsorted,
“Memoryless of you”,
Has turned into my deepest fear.
How can I turn down a euphoric reminiscence,
When it started as a flame,
Ended as a dying ember,
Leaving a scar on my heart,
And a newly mended swell.
Your gaze once caressed my soul,
Warm and complete like a hairy dog,
During the coldest, harshest of days.
Your aura does miracles to my soul
And I pray forever that it will never lose its glow.
Your light has inspired in me,
A confidence and pride,
A water bridge to cross over,
To rise again from drastic lows.
So, Love remains the best and the worst,
A powerful force that brings both joy and pain,
And I am grateful for the memories and the lessons it brings.

I used to think love was such a bore
A leech on life, a bothersome chore
But you came, and that all changed
With you, my perspective was rearranged
When you shiver in my arms, I feel complete
Your words to me, they are oh so sweet
I find you cute, when you look away
And when I see your eyes, I melt inside everyday
The way you smile, it’s a sight to behold
I feel so lucky, that I know you well
Others may say, that we’re not meant to be
But with your love, I’m where I’m meant to be
Your love is like Bluetooth, with no wires unbound
Intimate, electric, it’s a love we’ve found
So let all the haters, say what they need to say
Our love will beat them, in every single way.

We’re all in this world together,
Unavoidable fate we all share.
Sometimes it feels like destiny’s hand,
Knocking at our door, always there.
A sensation lingers within,
For years this feeling persists,
Can death be menacing or grim,
When it’s promised to all like this?
Time, oh how it flows,
Through every vein in our being.
But for you, Death, it goes slow,
Due diligence to my impatience, unseeing.
Let’s cherish every breath we take,
Make each moment worth living.
For when our final bow we make,
Our legacy will keep on giving.
