Love’s Irony

Damian Semwayo

The pain cuts deeper, more than it should,
Her love, sincere and open, misunderstood.
What was she to sacrifice, to let go,
Only to find heartbreak, a tragic blow?

Sometimes, hope lingers far too long,
Leaving us shattered, clinging on,
Dying for a cause, lost deep within,
A sacrifice made, an emotional anthem.

In love’s name, she gave her all,
Only to receive disrespect, to fall.
Psychotic trauma, a mental death’s embrace,
Regret weighing heavy, leaving no trace.

Will she ever love again, I wonder,
Can trust and hope be forever rediscovered?
The scars may fade, but hidden deep,
The wounds remain, where pain does seep.

She called him her everything, her soul’s mate,
But he labeled her insane, a stressful weight.
